We arrived at 5:05pm, just a few minutes after the office closed. We had called ahead and they let us know just to choose a walk-in site and pay in the morning. Without a map we got confused. Google Maps directions to Fort Robinson State Park take you to the middle of the park down a dirt road. But that's not the right spot.nnWe finally found Soldier Creek Campground which is across the street and down the road a little from the office and the main fort area. The Red Cloud Campground is also right there if you would prefer full hookups. But since they said the water/sewer had already been winterized for the season, we chose Soldier Creek with just electric (50amp).nn$25 for a single night stay.nnNot a bad drive to Toadstool Geologic Park from here. The kids loved hiking around and exploring that trail. But I'm glad we didn't have the trailer with us on that drive since most of the road is a dirt/gravel road.

I would give this campground five stars except, the goat heads around our campsite and many others seem to be out of control. My husband and I ended up with many leaks in bike tires. After just one bike ride... The good news is that the campsites, for the most part, have quite a bit of room in between each site. There are flushing toilets and running water sinks in one of the bathrooms. It is in a gorgeous setting. If you are interested in mountain biking or hiking, you can do these things, however, it seems to be geared a little bit more towards horse riding. Then I think the goat heads don't really matter. We also had our dog with us and he got goat heads in his pads on several occasions. It looks like it is lush, but sadly, that is deceptive. I think with a little weed management, this could be quite an amazing place.

What a beautiful campground and interesting historic fort. The campground is like camping in a beautiful park. Green lawns, huge trees. The campsites that are electric only are more spacious than the full hook-up sites.

Very interesting campground and perfect for a history buff. Great hiking and sight seeing all around the state park.

Clean. Quiet. Staff friendly. However, the food on the restaurant was less then adequate. Fried chicken was way over cooked. And the apple pie was doughy. Serves were friendly.
