Visited this local park for the first time after reading about it for years. Historical protected Indian Mounds high on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River are the highlight of the park, as are two art sculptures that appear to be Native American (will be looking online for info on the artist; no info in the park). The location of this park is amazing for the views allowed by it's high elevation overlooking downtown St.Paul, the regional airport, the Mississippi River, and Hwy 61 - you can sit on any number of benches strategically placed near the edges of the bluff and watch the trains, planes, automobiles, and boats go by. There is also an adorable playground area for children, lots of picnic tables, and walking/biking paths that run the length of the park. We went in March on a sunny day, so the trees and flower gardens were not in bloom, but we are already planning a return trip to experience the park in another season to see the wild rose gardens and the trees in full leaf.
Great place, clean, big, plenty of parking
It's like I'm in the twilight zone. So many people playing, having picnics, taking selfies where my ancestors are buried.nnI wouldn't do these activities by any modern cemetery.nnI feel the presence of my ancestors when I am there.
Always love going to this sacred place, wish the city could coordinate with some local tribes to keep the grounds up, it looks all dead grass and such. It used to look so green and lush. Now it's just weeds and trash accumulating.
Very cool spot to see the sunset! Although it was raining when I was there, it's a really good place for taking pictures
