Beautiful trail to walk on and enjoy. Slightly disappointed that pets aren’t allowed on the trail as I love to skate and take my dog with me.

Good trail head at Red Wing end of Cannon Valley trail. Parking available for about 20 vehicles. We park here, and then bicycle the 20 miles to Cannon Falls where we have lunch before riding back down river to this trail head. We also stop at Welch Village which is the half way point for a brief rest both coming and going.

We love the Cannon Valley Trail! Some of the most beautiful scenery, and a fairly easy ride. We usually do 1/2 the trail, either Cannon Falls to Welch or Welch to Red Wing. Both rides are about 20 mile round trips.

I ride this trail at least once per week. A good way to ride 40 miles without unclipping from your pedals.

Best trail around. We buy the yearly pass and drive down from the Twin Cities every week to bike. Well maintained, lots of great scenery and wildlife. From the Red Wing trailhead, extend your trip on the Hay Creek and Goodhue Pioneer Trail through the peaceful Richard J. Dorer Memorial Hardwood State Park. When going into Cannon Falls, take the Mill Towns Trail and bike to the waterfalls at Lake Byllesby. Gorgeous. The Mill Towns Trail is rough along the river through the local parks. Once you pick up the trail by the fairgrounds, it is new and smooth.
