Pincushion Mountain Trail System

Nice hike five minutes away from Grand Marais. There was a good mix of easy and hard spots with a final push up to the top of pincushion mountain for spectacular views of the superior national forest on one side and lake superior on the other! Whole hike took us about three hours there and back, but we definitely took some time to relax at the top of the mountain!

Beautiful cc ski trails, well groomed. Great hiking in the summer too. Lots of trails. View from parking lot is even awesome! One of our new favorites.

The new section of the Superior Hiking Trail is amazing. Every turn brings new forest scenery. The view from the mountain is extraordinary. The ascent at the end would be hard on a wet day. Best strategy for getting back down involves crab walking down the large rock face, but it's worth putting aside your pride for the views.

A great place to be active ! The trails here are super wide and great for larger hiking parties. There’s a outhouse available at the trail head , but you’ll need to bring your own sanitizer.
