Great trail along the water, surrounded by nature. Serene, peaceful & lovely.

Trail is located on BELLE ISLE STATE PARK. A recreational vehicle pass is required on MOTOR vehicles entering the park. Great views, parking at beginning of trail. Trails may be wet due to high Great lakes Water levels. Trails loop end is underwater at this time (May 2020) Trail makes loop around field or goes across bridge to a loop. Scatter park benches along trail to sit.Construction of infrastructure has left parts of trails a bit ragged at this time. The Eagles on the island can be seen time to time.

Need to cool down on a hot summer day? Go here. There’s a fun rope swing if you can find it

GET THIS! The picnic tables at the entrance are out in the flooded water, you can't read the info signs, the trails you see here on the map are BOTH GONE, and there's a desperate attempt at a makeshift gravel trail (nice and wide) that leads PAST (not up to) the lighthouse, AND RIGHT TO THE WATER'S EDGE! It is beautiful. BUT TURN BACK AND GO THE SAME ROUTE TO RETURN. The stingy golf course barricaded the end of the trail around the lake. You CANNOT get through. Lots of cool bugs, flowers, and NOT a lot of ivy - very cleaned out trails. Excellent views the entire way! Lots of runners, bikers, dog walkers, and young adults! Not many kids - no bathrooms way out there. No water. Be prepared.nnEveryone seems to smoke weed (mostly the stinky gross commercialized laced weed but some legit homegrown stuff too that doesn't reek), and desperately cover themselves in all manner of cologne and perfume - that kinda leaves you nauseated if you're not anticipating it and holding your breath. Everyone smoking the nasty weed (young, hot headed kids) also like to mess with tourists and pretend you can hike all the way around but it's bogus. The sweethearts are the natural weed smokers who are actually really fun to meet and hang with for a minute; they even offered to kayak with us! I mention this because shockingly you can smell who will scam you and who is -less likely- to cause you a problem.
