When I left Michigan (out of state), one of the things that bummed me out the most was no longer being able to take in-person lessons with Kent. Excellent teacher and meticulous musician. But most important, it was evident from day one that he cared. He always went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and help me work towards my goals. I am a former student who started out taking guitar lessons with Kent Koller back in 2011 and continued lessons on a consistent up until 2018. If you are someone who is even slightly interested in learning guitar for the very first time, but nervous about how to do so, or even someone looking to refine your craft-- I highly recommend Kent Koller. It hasn’t been an aspiration of mine to learn guitar to “make it big” or create the next hit song, playing guitar started off as an interest of mine earlier on for my own enjoyment. However, in the beginning, as learning most new things seem like a daunting task or maybe overwhelming, it took some time for me to enjoy it, it took some encouragement and instruction from a teacher that only sought to inspire students until I was able to genuinely capture the love and enjoyment of playing guitar myself. Anybody can read off and teach chord charts or theory. Very few teachers are able to teach in a dynamic way that inspires and imparts the heart of what they do and why they do it and empower you along the way. Empower you with the tools to overcome personal limitations and expectations of what you thought you were only capable of doing in this artistic expression. Kent Koller is one of those few teachers. I have only experienced Superior Guitar Lessons as being a low-stakes, safe environment to make mistakes along the way, come with questions, and discover your “own sound” as a guitarist. Learning and playing guitar is more than just learning an instrument, it’s a discovery of your own unique expression of sound and Kent Koller helps you discover your own sound. Kent Koller also helped coach in the areas of song-writing, singing, and creating songs and arrangements on the guitar, inspired me to share and overcome fear I had with my craft with other people through various ways--open mics, songwriting, etc! I’d highly recommend Kent Koller to anyone who is interested, he is highly skilled in his expression. His ceiling becomes your floor.
