Hidden gem in Resort Township, but they removed some of the wooden pathway over the creek in the back?? Why?nnOverall gorgeous preserve, very quiet. Likely a good spot for morels on paper (eastern facing hills, water source, hardwoods). Really nice creek back there with a nice bench to sit for a bit. Good amount of elevation change for an hour long hike, especially the red trail. We actually were able to do some snowshoeing back there in late December, but have been there in every season. Better than the Indian Gardens trails, but not as good as Cherry Lane Perverse.nnOf note, when going right on the red trail at the forest entrance, about 10 to 15 Mins in, there's a point where on the right side a sharp hill goes up about 50ft, and it's relatively flat on the left side. Every single time at that point my beagle's hackles go up, and he starts barking wildly. Not the beagle baying alerting to a scent, but aggressive and angry or defensive. I really don't like it, and I've never seen anything up the hill. Even walked up the hill with him and never found anything. Really want to stress that this is not a normal scent or alert response but more of a fight or flight kinda thing. So I wonder if there's a coyote or fox nearby. This has happened 4 or 5 times now, and I always forget about the spot to it's happening.nnJust be mindful of your surroundings back there.
