Thank you, Google, for updating the hours for the bridge. Make sure to look for hours at the bridge observatory.nnThere is the bridge and the bridge OBSERVATORY. If you want CORRECT, up to date information for the observatory, look there. This is not it, even though many people are posting reviews for the observatory here. I did not notice the difference. The bridge itself is always open as it is public Rte 1! The bridge observatory has hours that are updated properly on Google. This has hours listed that are incorrect, if you are looking to make a side trip way out of your way to ride up to the observatory. They close at 5 during off season, not 6. I got here at 4:36, too late for the 4:30 cut off time. To say I'm massively disappointed is an understatement...

Stopped at the rest area right before driving across the bridge on Route 1. Definitely recommend stopping and taking in the sights!

The views from the observatory are just spectacular. The Atlantic Ocean on one side, the Maine mountains on the other; nothing can compare. The icing on the cake is the location right next door to venerable Fort Knox. You can buy a ticket for both and certainly should. The Fort is a part of Maine and US history dating back more than 200 years. This is a wonderful way to spend a few hours.

It was a foggy morning when I crossed the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, putting most of its splendor lost behind the white mist. Still beautiful from what I did see.
