Prospect Harbor Lighthouse

Beautiful lighthouse that you can't visit. Property of the Navy, behind a guarded fence. Didn't know that information prior to driving an hour to see it.

We had so much fun staying here! The beds were very warm and comfortable. Great spot for game nights with family. We drove into Acadia National Park every day and had an awesome vacation.

You cannot get up close to this Lighthouse and there is no parking lot to be able to get out and take pictures. This is a very narrow road that also limits the ability to park. You can walk the rocks to get to the beach for better pictures.

Drove about 2 hours out of the way to arrive at a construction site with a detour sign. Followed the detour to a razor wired area and parked to ask about the lighthouse access. Husband (USMC Veteran with an active duty USN son) was rudely and condescendingly told that we “were not getting in here” by the woman at the gate. Sad that is the care, but we didn’t need to be treated like we were intentionally trespassing.

It is a military base. You can take pictures from the rocks but can not pass the gate line. (From shore to sea invisible line) Can only get on if you are staying at the lighthouse cottage which you need to be active duty or retired military. Besides that, taking pictures from the street or the rocks is all you can do.
