Fort Point Lighthouse

Beautiful place on the coast of Maine. Wonderful views, an absolute delight. Love to go here and have picnics with the family. It's just out of the way enough it's never too packed with people, unlike some of the nearby parks. There's also a huge dock you can walk out on and take in some beautiful views.

The lighthouse isn't open to the public, it's a private residence. The state park is OK. Also if you're a veteran and live in Maine you get in free but it's not listed on the fee schedule.

The lighthouse is a private residence but the grounds are part of the state park and open to walk around. The best view is either as you walk up from the parking lot or from the backside. Entrance fee was $3, and there aren't any envelopes, so you just slide the money in a steel pipe. It was pretty foggy the morning I visited and I couldn't see the water or shoreline, I could imagine the fog bell ringing though.
