I have attended the div one ( middle school) and div two/three ( high school). I attended Division 1, 2016-2018, it was extremely unstructured and In all classes except for one I felt like I had no work to do. When I was in that one class though that I did have work I felt I didn’t have support from teachers. In my time at div one there was a lot of changes in staff members and I feel like it really went down hill, the new staff don’t understand how hca runs and they are changing the Structure of this school. There was a lot of hands on work in div one but nothing felt Substantial or important, my grade level built a whole farm and the next year it was torn down. Moving on to div 2 I didn’t feel prepared for high school, the work load was much more compared to the middle school. The high school can be hands on but not as much as the middle school or as much as they claim to be, div 2/3 used to be a very nice and welcoming place very open and easy, there were some Structure changes and now we have walls and there is no more garage, there is no bike shop orOpportunities for students to do hands on in building work, our halls used to flood with music and art but now it’s discouraged, there is no more music room for students to play instruments. There are a lot of staff changes always happening at div 2/3 and most of the time they are downgraded. Some teachers can be rude and some just don’t understand how hca works and how their students learn. There is also an issue in hca with vaping, you can ask any student and they will agree but staff are not doing anything about it. The staff give a fair amount of time to complete assignments and the assignments for the most part are meaningful and help us learn. Something to consider if you are thinking about coming to hca is we use standards meaning their are no grades, you just have to meet a standard, this is a really nice way of assigning students but it can be very difficult translating those to grades if you want to change schools. Div 2/3 has amazing free Voc and college opportunities for students.

It's a good school but there are some teachers that need to have more patience with students. Especially students that have severe anxiety. Students being mocked and treated with passive aggressive comments is not ok.

Meh. The food was good and the staff was friendly, even though it occasionally took them a while to do something. The only thing that they did not do well was the academics. It was very easy. A positive though was the frequent field trips. If you want a school with great service but that won't prep you for college that well, then this school is for you.
