Our favorite go too! Always the best place to go when the other parks are packed...there is something for everyone. Hiking trails, beautiful water views,visit with the Buffalo and the new baby buffalo, a nice park for the kids, pavilion with a fire place, ball field and plenty of spots for a picnic or grilling (grills are there too) Most people just drive through to see the buffalo then leave so traffic instant an issue either. Plenty of parking as well. On your way out of town don't forget to stop and get your sweets,ice cream and novelties at the cutest shops in Utica. Or grab a bite to eat and a cold beer from Jamie's Outpost! While dining you can check out all the motorcycles that stop in and cruise by...very welcoming atmosphere plus the food is damn good

This park has some really nice trails that can be hiked by just about anyone. There are also a number of stunning overlooks. When we were there last there were two adult and one baby buffalo. Check this place out as I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Beautiful place to visit nice to take the kids. Bathrooms Available. Buffaloes there for you to see.

We visited Buffalo Rock State Park for a hike with our dog. It was nice to get away from the crowds at Starved Rock. There are two bison and a calf in an enclosure. A hiking trail leads to some views of the Illinois River and past the Effigy Tumuli. They are earthen mounds constructed by an artist to be similar to the effigy mounds built by Native Americans. You can only really see them from above, they're too big to see from ground level. Overall, a nice little park and not so crowded.
