Starved Rock State Park Campground

We love the large campsites here. While the shore power is only 30 amps and there are only a handful of hydrants around the grounds where you can fill your fresh water tank, it is offset by the spacious grassy sites and the trees surrounding the grounds. If you've ever set up in one of those campgrounds where you feel like you're parked on a used car lot with but a thin strip of grass or gravel between sites, you'll feel like you're in heaven here.nnAnd if you enjoy hiking, there are a number of trails a short drive from the campground that are doable for all levels of hikers.

Our campsite was lovely! Spacious, wooded, and private. We had two tents and a canopy. Not all spots were as big as ours. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The modern bathrooms were fine, but we opted not to use the showers. It's located conveniently to the Park. There are raccoons - so keep your food locked up and/or in your vehicle. The fees were reasonable.

We have stayed here twice and loved our visit. Be sure to camp in the east loop towards the top for forested seclusion. ud83dude0a The sites are a fair size, with some of them being quite large. We used a YouTube drive through video to pick out # 80 and #82 with our friends, as they are connected. It was perfect. Beautiful hiking any time of the year here. Only negative was the mostly full port a potties and the bathrooms/showers aren't great, but that's unfortunately typical for an IL state park.
