This nature preserve is undoubtedly one of the most underrated secrets nestled in the Champaign-Urbana-Savoy area. It's a beautiful, quiet getaway that I really can't wait to visit yet again next summer. I absolutely love the addition of the small informational signs. That you can ride a bike in the trail is also great, and you can really tell the owners put a lot of care into the rest of this place. However, the rest of the trail was left overgrown and hadn't been mowed for a while, with no signs telling you so before entering the preserve. I learned later on that this was just to give the wildlife more breathing room, which is nice, however I should have known this BEFORE entering the preserve. Unfortunately, this is mostly out of the owner's control, but the placement of the preserve next to crop fields gives many insects that reside in the prairie a false sense of security which results in them being hit by cars. Overall, this preserve is a gem, despite its small flaws. .

Very nice 100-acre prairie restoration area. It is still pretty new so you won’t see anything too rare but it is still very much worth a visit if you are interested in prairies. There is a very short loop trail with signs about some of the plants you might see. The longer loop is not as well maintained depending on when you visit.

A tranquil place to walk and bird-watch. The diversity in native plant species is awesome. Sunsets here are particularly gorgeous, so bring your camera!

I'm reluctant to post a great review, as I wouldn't want to attract more people to potentially despoil any part of it. This is a quiet place of restored prairie, plain and simple. It's also absolutely beautiful. There's a small mowed path into the field with some small signs pointing out unique flora. The path isn't any good for bikes or handicapped accessibility (go to Meadowbrook Park for that). There's few amenities, which is just fine. The parking lot is small, which is also just fine. There's a bike rack, picnic table and garbage can. I think a big part of the charm of this acreage is the relative solitude. It's also great to see initiatives to restore 'what once was' to succeed, as it has here.

It's so peaceful and serene here. I love to come and walk.
