Great studio, fabulous teachers, incredible instruction and a prop for everything. Seriously, this is world class yoga teaching. Lois Steinberg, the owner has been teaching for over 40 years. I have a chronic back problem and her guidance helped me out of pain. If you want a real yoga experience, from beginner to advanced, this is the place to go. Her other teachers are so well trained, you will be so glad you went.

Lois and her team of teachers are dedicated enthusiastic and knowledgable. The environment is focused on the student, their advancement, whatever level they are at in their yoga practice, everyone is catered for... yoga is for everyone in this studio.

I am hooked on yoga. One of the best places I have ever attended for yoga. The teachers are extremely attentive. The only yoga class that the teacher walks around and corrects your form. The whole time the teacher is describing the pose. Really no room for injury. They also modify the pose for anyone with special needs/injuries. There is year long membership for anytime to get into facility to practice. Great facility with amazing teachers.

I completed a 12 week pass this past spring and learned a lot. What I liked most is the teachers teach you where to place every toe and finger and which way to point your elbows...very intentional yoga. I have shaky/weak/unstable knees and I feel yoga has helped me strengthen them as well as other parts of my body. As a beginner, I had to pretty much stick with the Ignite classes which are not offered in as much variety as I would have liked as a Stay at home mom. My favorite class was Saturday mornings at 8:00am with Anne. She actually went to India and studied under the founder of Iyengar yoga. She is fantastic! Her pace is great for beginners, she really cares for the students and has a great sense of humor, so you smile throughout class. IYENGAR yoga has tons of props, belts, blocks, chairs, ropes, blankets, etc. This intimidated me at first, but now I found they were helpful and it helped break up the class, so time went by faster. Unfortunately, I had one negative experience of attending the Women's Essential class run by the owner/head of studio. I found her brash, impatient and rude. From what I gathered, she also studied in India under the founder of Iyengar yoga. I'm sure she's skilled, but I didn't appreciate her attitude. This surprised me but it is what it is. I expressed my concerns to her and she did apologise but I still feel a bit uncomfortable. Other teachers here have been great (Barb, Maggie). The last thing I'll say, some of these passes you have to use them before they expire, no exceptions. My husband gifted me the pass but I would have rather just paid the drop-in rate and take some of the pressure off. Towards the end, I had to complete my last 5 classes in 10 days. Overall, learned a lot, and do recommend this place!

Iyengar Yoga Champaign-Urbana is an amazing studio! Lois is a renown teacher and the entire faculty is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. If you want to learn how to do Yoga in a supportive environment, this is the place. Teachers come from all over the world to learn from Lois. Also, Lois has written many books on Iyengar Yoga Therapy, this studio is one of the best equipped studios in the country and the Yoga Rope Wall is wonderful. Plus, you can come during open practice time, which is a wonderful time to develop a home practice. I HIGHLY recommend! Plus, this Healing Classes are offered including: Neck & Shoulders, Low Back, Knees, Mens & Woman's classes.
