Shemwell's Barbecue

Holy Moly this place did not disappoint at all! The BBQ Beef sandwich, poppers and broccoli and cheese nuggets were delicious! The meat was fresh, moist and very tasty! Even tho the town of Cairo is just about completely dead, this restaurant is really worth going out of your way for. I would suggest you order by phone and pick up in the back of the restaurant.

Used to be the finest BBQ in 100 miles any direction. These days it's fat and gristle, side dishes are outdated food service junk, and the place is filthy.

Really good and I am happy I finally got to experience it for myself. I buy the sauce at my local kroger. I hope some of that money is making it back to the community. We called ahead and picked up simple thick cut pork barbecue with a vinegar based sauce. Old fashioned and no flairs added if you want your meat smothered in commercial condiments this is not the place for you. Sending love from Mount Vernon.
