Brian Roughton was a fantastic guitar teacher for both me as an adult as well as for my two teenage daughters. He adjusts his instruction nicely for beginners even though his skill and knowledge are well suited for intermediate and advanced players. His patience and precision work well together in an instructor role to make guitar enjoyable while also encouraging growth. He has an easy to get along with demeanor and makes his students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring topics that range across the spectrum from theory to practice. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in becoming a better guitar player!
Excellent, well-versed, well-educated, and very direct lessons! No fluff! Every minute is utilized! The staff at Music Academy are committed to advancing student skills. I highly recommend! Background: My daughter took acoustic guitar and vocal lessons here years ago, which set the foundation for further education at Belmont University and her music career in Nashville right now. Again, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
My son took a piano lesson with the guitar teacher here who claimed to be able to teach how to play the piano.nHe kept on giving negative comments on the very first lesson and demotivated my son so much that he actually wanted to stop playing. We never went back after the first lesson. It was quite a traumatic experience and I would not recommend this guy for kids and a beginner. He might be a great musician but definitely not a good teacher.
My singing instructor was very supportive and nice. She taught me different songs every week, was very patient, and also confident in me. There's a reason I gave the 3-star rating. The staff wasn't friendly at all, and he didn't show courage in his guitar students; he's a little too traditional for me, in my perspective and probably for some people, too. I hope my rating gives you some intell of what my experience was like there.
I have been taking lessons for the last several years here and have experianced a welcoming enviroment from the highly experienced staff and have learned so much more about guitar than i thought i could here.
