Beautiful place to visit for the day. The boat ride was really pretty and as well as the grounds. The trees are beautiful and it's a park like setting. The wagon ride was definitely our favorite part of the tour. The horses are beautiful! My only thing I could have done without for the day was the lady telling us about the ghost in the house. She had her ghost detector on her phone. She then proceeded to tell us that there is a little girls spirit who is there and then my daughter came asking questions. Seriously...just give us the facts not your ghostly opinions!

Mansion tour is not worth the money. It's not the original mansion because the original one was destroyed. The story they tell about the island and museum is very interesting and unusual though. The gift shop has amazing items and are so inexpensive I was shocked. They don't charge you $20 for something small like a commemorative pencil or toy for the little ones. A 2 foot long flexible pencil was 50 cents! Several cool fossil/gems for sale cheap as well. Overall the ferry was great for the kids, walking around the island was fun for the family and they have concessions and a horse and carriage ride that last about 15-20. Great little day out for the kids. The museum has some cool things also!

Absolutely beautiful! Huge island with plenty to explore and a lot to learn including things like George Washington (yeah, that one) owning this island many years ago. Sadly the house is not original, but the rebuild is as close to the original as the writings could get them. Fun enough to bring the family!

Incredibly fascinating story. The paddlewheeler over and back was cool. I needed disability assistance moving around, and they were so accommodating. Well worth your time!
