As locks go 57 is neither the best nor the worst. It is neither at the start or the end. Of all the locks I know, 57 is definitely one of them.
Lock 57 is in a scenic area and has a fairly secluded campsite. This is one of my favorite spots on the C&O Canal.
Neatest.. and with foundations of a lockhouse nearby!
