Surprisingly great waterfall. Most east coast water falls are some trickles but these are great. You can walk from where route 27 crosses the path or drive and park close to the waterfall. Not ample parking close and the walk is flat and pleasant.nnWe walked the 1.3 miles from route 27 bridge and saw the other sites along the way so it was a great relaxing way to explore without breaking a sweat.

The road to get there was HORRIBLE! Full of a lot of deep potholes. Almost needed a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get back to the falls. Also be warned it its not handicapped accessible. The rocky path to get down to the falls is very steep, no railings, only a repelling rope to hang onto. I'd be very careful with children there. That being said it its very pretty.

The color contrast is absolutely gorgeous. Easy walk on dirt road. Steep trail to the bottom of Douglas Falls but, good view from the top as well. Seeing the coke ovens is a bonus.

If you have a suv or truck getting back to these falls will be easy for you. The dirt road isn't well maintained and be prepared to pull off towards the side for passing motorists. The upper path is flat and a easy walk to look down at the falls. If your a more experienced hiker; taking the time to go down the rope assist to see the falls up close is worth it. Make sure you wear decent shoes or hiking boots. There are some difficult spots on this path. If it has been raining you might not be able to get down to the lower path. It is worthwhile to see these falls from both perspectives. All will enjoy these falls though and options for a experience levels of hiker.
