Not a bad zoo for a place like Abilene, but don’t expect much. Admission is reasonable but the gift shop makes up for the reasonable gate price. This is a very small zoo but has quite a few animals considering the size. As a consequence, a lot of the animal enclosures are on the smaller size. Also, this zoo is old and that’s evident as some areas appeared dated and dirty, although it looked like some renovation work was being done. There’s only one option for food and it’s very overpriced. The highlight of the zoo is the giraffe feeding deck. For $5 you get three pieces of lettuce to feed the giraffes. When feeding, you cannot touch the giraffes or even get within an arms length of them and the staff will definitely let you know that.nnOverall, this zoo isn’t terrible. It has its good and bad things, but I can’t recommend going there unless you live in the area or just needing to kill some time. There are much better zoos.
It was a great day at the zoo! It was busier than we expected (Spring break kiddos) but super fun! We fed the Giraffes for $5 and visited all the animals. I wish there were elephants but maybe one day. I was surprised at how many varieties of large birds they had! Overall great time!
New Madagascar exhibit was pretty cool. The new plants and trees finally filled in from the past few years. Whole Zoo looks great. Still some spots that can be filled and can't wait to hear if they got new plans.
The zoo was decent. My kids had the most fun on the train where I also learned a lot through out the tour. However, it is insanely hot during the summer in Abilene. Paying $4 for one small drink isn't reasonable.
Its a nice place to b a kid again. My wife and I have 3 teenagers who thought they were too cool 4 d zoo so my wife and I went and I feed the giraffes saw some lions. We had fun
