Get there early as the closest parking lot fills up fast. There is extended parking down the hill at the park. The zoo is very walkable with plenty of shade and nice open exhibits. Animals look healthy and are fairly active in the morning. We leisurely walked the entire zoo in less than 2 hours. This is because all but one primate exhibit were closed. Hence the 1 star off an otherwise enjoyable zoo.

Scavenger hunt over spring break was great for keeping older elementary kids engaged. Exhibits are informative, as natural looking as possible, and even though the parking lot was jam packed the day we went, there were only a few times we felt overly crowded (smaller indoor exhibits, but the outdoor areas were fine). Lions, giraffes, cougars, elephant, rhino, alligator, bear, orangutan, plus lots more. And the kids all bought the art painted by the animals near the cafe in the middle of the zoo. Family friendly, they allow outside food/drinks to be brought in, but we bought burgers and hot dogs, etc. Great zoo!

Loved this zoo!!!! They really have outdone themselves with providing the animals spacious living areas for the their home. The variety of animals were great. Although I'm not a huge fan of captivity, this zoo made me feel semi ok about it. Great place to visit ud83dude00

This zoo is large enough and small enough to hit just the right tone for encountering a myriad of creatures up close without burning out trying to see the whole thing. I live near Columbus Ohio which has one of the top 10 zoos in the country. However I have enjoyed this experience much more in that I was able to be closer to see and observe comfortably the marvelous creatures they care for and help preserve. Both the adults and the grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
