Beautiful campground with nice bathrooms/showers. The hiking trails are very nice and Ratcliff lake is breath taking. Hidden gem that no one knows about. If you are reading this review you found a beautiful secret in our great State of Texas.

A nice place for a few days visit. We were in a 38 ft long 5th wheel RV and while it was a little tight maneuvering on some of the roads, we did just fine. Not all sites in the Dogwood loop have a water tap dedicated to each site. Suggest bringing extra hose to reach as far as 100 ft and a Y adapter so you don’t monopolize the spigot just for yourself. Many sites do have a dedicated water tap... best I could tell on a walk, these sites do have water tap: 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, 33, 34, 35, 40. Site #20 has water about 80 ft away, site #18 about 40 ft away and site #39 about 50 ft away. It was nice and quiet when we were there... the park hose was cordial to us and helpful. The lake was nice with a swim area, clean restrooms and a couple nice fishing piers close by. There one hiking trail about 2 miles long that is a nice, short walk.

Nice peaceful area perfect for hiking and fishing. Spent a Saturday morning hiking around the lake (found the trail on AllTrails app) and taking pictures. Well marked trails made it an easy 2 plus mile trek. There was plenty of parking, well kept restrooms, lots of campsites, and plenty of wildlife to see.nI recommend this area to anyone looking to get away from city life for a bit and enjoy nature.

I would give this place Zero stars if I could. Drove 3.5 hours and $150 in gas only to find out that the park is closed. No call, text or email. Tried to get ahold of the park Rangers for 4 days. Still no response. They didn't even have a sign on the Ranger station saying it was closed. I didn't know until I flagged down a cop. No other options to camp anywhere close. Had to drive another 3.5 hours home in the middle of the night. Typical government agency - lazy, unaccountable, non-responsive. Terrible customer service. I'll never attempt to camp here again.

My kid and I had a great time camping at Ratcliff. The lake area is extremely beautiful and we would like to come back during the summer to swim. I was hoping there would be some type of registration process when we arrived but there was none. It seemed like just anyone could come grab a spot out of the blue. The downside to this place is there is not much to do. There are a few hiking trails but not much of interest to see. We found ourselves bored after a day.
