I have to admit that Texas barbecue for me is like water for everyone to survive. You can get great barbecue all over the state. But the food here at Johnny's was exceptional. I had the combo plate brisket and sausage. The brisket had good flavor and the outside was not overbearing. Great mash potatoes. Hiwever the beans were a bit plain. They could use a bit of help.The sauce was excellent. Favorable and had a spice to it.nnMy daughter had a sirloin steak. This steak was perhaps the best sirloin I've ever tasted. Thick but soft in the middle with great superb taste.nnI highly recommend coming to Johnny's and trying out this place if you are in central Texas

Terrible service. Went for take out and had to wait 30 minutes watching many customers come in after me get their take outs and in house orders served. Don't know what the hold up on my order was other than Lauren the waitress forgot to enter it but I will never go there again.nWhen order was ready it was not what I ordered. The chicken breast was replaced with a leg and thigh. The leg had pin feather hairs on it. Disgusting!! Pitiful to say the least.

This ain't your any old BBQ jointnThey have Quail and all the restnBrisket, great sausage (regular & Jalapeños and cheese), ribs pork&beef , chicken and more.nTheir spicy sauce is different and some of the best I've ever tasted.n15-20 minute drive to Salado from Round Rock well worth it. And the sides are also unbelievably good. I will make it a once a month drive. Oh and live music with a out door venue. Check out their web page.nI promise you'll be as glad as I wasnpleased I kept saying we gotta check this place out. We did and we'll go again. Disappointed, we've eaten here before it was really good. Today, half of my sirloin was fat and full of gristle and unevenly cooked. The chicken fried steak my daughter ordered was dry and didn't taste fresh. Best part of the meal was the appetizer.
