Cordova Self Storage at Shelby Farms

In April of this year 2020, I placed many of my household belongings into a storage unit at Cordova Self Storage in Shelby Farms. I was moving into a new home and needed to keep my belongings safe and clean as I prepared for the move. Three months later, when I moved them to my new home, I discovered that almost everything, mattresses, furniture, clothes, books, washing machine, were totally covered in mildew. It was not only disgusting, but made me feel sick. I tried to clean the mildew but it was everywhere, inside and outside of everything. I returned to the office to complain and was told that they do not cover damage to anything stored there and I would have to go through their insurance company. I filed a complaint only to be told that mildew was not covered. Actually, when I finally received a copy of the insurance coverage it pretty much said they did not cover anything. I made many phone calls to the people at CSS but they were not interested in helping in anyway. Let this be a warning. Read your contract carefully because even though they advertise safe, secure and clean if your belongings are ruined by the damp, hot conditions of their units…they are not responsible. You truly are leaving your property with them at completely your own risk. I would never use this facility again and would strongly advise anyone considering storage here to seek another storage company . Cordova Self Storage will take your money but will not take care of you. Do not make the mistake I made.nnJust a follow up to my review and the “owners” very concerned response asking me to call the company. I did call and email immediately. The call was answered by a generic answering service and I left a message. The company did call me the following day from an “unknown number” which I did not answer. They left a message saying they would call me back the next day. I have never heard back. I have called them 3 more times leaving voice messages. I have heard nothing. So if you needed any further evidence of how little this company cares and how dishonest their response to a bad review is, you have it. Also, I checked other negative reviews and they all received the identical response from the company. Wonder if any of those customers ever heard back.

I had a very satisfying experience at this storage facility. LaShanta Petty was very pleasant & knowledgeable regarding my rental. She went out of her way to accommodate me with my rental request. Also helpful with things I didn't know Uhaul supplied. Thank you LaShanta!
