Where to begin? Laurel fork is the perfect tucked away paradise. Staying at the retreat has been a family tradition for years now, and the owners have treated us with kindness since day one. The tranquility, amenities, and “like home” feel will forever go unmatched. Being someone who has traveled more than the average person, I can safely say that my experience with the lovely people at Laurel Fork will always be at the top of my list of revisited get-away’s. A few of my favorites during my many stays to name a few: the beautiful property that the cabins are located on, the proximity to the Big South Fork River and Recreation area (ability to hike, horseback ride, kayak, picnic, and much more), the clean hot tubs, living space, and horse stables. Aside from all of these lovely material things, I am most thankful for the ability to get away with my family in a location where I feel safe and relaxed. Having said all of that, I look forward to my next booked stay at the retreat as I reserved it as soon as I got home from the last one. Lots of love to the staff at Laurel Fork ud83dudda4

My family and I can’t say enough good things about this place. It is an absolutely beautiful place to get away and just get back to nature! The cabin was very clean and relaxing, and the hot tub was an added bonus. We will definitely be coming back soon as we can! Wonderful people and a lovely area.

Good time, GREAT People!nMy family and I left the city and spent a weekend in paradise. We stayed in Turkey Scratch which has 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. The cabin was clean and well appointed. The decorations, linens, and furnishings all felt authentic to the theme and setting of The Retreat. The temperature outside was cold and crisp, but the wood burning fireplace was so warm and fragrant.nWe went hiking on the trails, its such beautiful country. We grilled on both the charcoal and gas grills, gathered around the fire pit and roasted s'mores, played board games and laughed more than we have in a long while; and no one checked a phone, even once. It was the perfect escape from being over plugged in and under connected.nThe staff was great. Sherry went above and beyond to help my family book the accommodation that would work for us. Thank you all for such a special stay. It will not be forgotten.

No changes to reservation within 14 days. We believed that most rental companies would be understanding about weather out of your control. (At beach companies with let you change dates for hurricanes). Tennessee had severe winter storm forecast for our stay. We asked if we could change dates. They said no. We had to decide whether to put our family at risk or loose 3 nights rental. We decided to go as we were sick about loosing the money. The property was difficult to find at night. Navigation stopped working and they really did not give directions to the resort. It was dark and hard to see. We stayed at Turkey Scratch. The living area is very small. The kitchen table partially blocks the TV. The fires place was nice. The bedrooms were nice. Over all it needs a deep clean. My socks turned gray from walking around cabin. Under beds, around edges very dusty. Very limited dishes. Some of pots and pans were dirty but had been put away as if clean. Plan on doing laundry while you are there as they require you do a load of towels and strip beds before you leave. You also have to take all your trash to the dumpster. The cable went out at night on the 2nd night. We emailed but did not get a response.nUltimately we had to leave early as the winter storm was coming and we felt unsafe to stay. The cabin had lanterns in case power went out. We were not going to risk our family getting stuck in a cabin with no power or heat. Tennessee is under a state of emergency from the winter storm we left to avoid. We are glad we left early but only got to spend 38 hours there and paid for 3 nights. I also emailed to tell them we were checking out early. Again, no response. Bottom line they want your money, will gladly take it. Once they have it, you are on your own. Good luck.

What we thought would be a little piece of tranquiity turned nightmarish. We understand rustic but not dirty and rundown. The cabin was musty smelling, the sheets on one bed were dirty and looked like they were used, the sheets on another bed were so stained did not want to sleep on them and the mattresses were well past their prime. The kitchen was stocked with chipped cups and the cups were not cleaned well before being put away. The fireplace logs did not work and it was cold, below freezing at night. Called and was told should have left you a note not working and then later told us they were working before you arrivied. Later we realized we had being speaking to 3 different family members when we called. Was finally told repair man sick and logs would not be fixed. Downstairs at cabin was cold and the upstairs level was suffocating. Every little noise upstairs is heard downstairs, so forget about sleeping. Advertised smart TVs. A small Smart TV in one bedroom, tv in main room was limited to 3 channels and the other TV advertised was for a gaming console, if you had one. Tried to sit on the deck and the furniture is rickety and there were 5 wasp nest. Thought the advertised fire pit would be nice, it was away from cabin and beyond rustic. We were only a party of 5 middle aged persons, but one couple left a day early of our 3 night stay as it was so miserable. The front yard of the cabin was a mud pit. The hot tub of all things was the only bright spot of a dismal stay.nI would advise not to spend your money here. You can stay somewhere nice and clean for the same price.
