Big Creek Group Camp

Big Creek group campground was beautiful! You're pretty much alone except the camp host being right there and it was a park ranger who was super nice. The bathroom was always clean, there were trails nearby and we had enjoyed having all that space of the campground.

My favorite campground and an easy drive down to see the elk in the fall! Nice and small with only 12 sites, all of them are great. Well equipped and love the roaring creek in the background. Easy to get to off the highway but tucked back so you’d never know.

Had no idea it was reservation only now, that all Smoky Campgrounds are now, and the price has gone up on all off them. For the sake of tourists, the locals that gave up their land for this park have become even less able to enjoy it. The rangers are no longer there to help people. They are only there to enforce the increasingly stringent laws. Gonna just start going to the National Forests.

Based on our experience and other reviews I don't believe the campground or bathrooms are ever open. The trail, however, is fantastic. We hiked the 2 miles in to Mouse Creek Falls and loved it. Trail is wide and very steady with a view of the water nearly the entire way. Our favorite stop on our vacation to the Smokys.

Was there in September 2018. Love this little gem. Sites are spaced out well. Close to a couple good trailheads. No RVs. Indoor plumbing bathrooms. Tent pads are spacious and the sites have a lot of room. Usually no rangers, just the camp host. Great place if you want to be in the Smokies but get away from the crowds.
