Gilbert Gaul Trail Head

This trail is easily visible on Google Maps. Think of it as four segments: (1) A short connector leads from the trail head near the Lakeside Villas cabins to a fork where the loop begins. (2) A long, windy segment runs along the reservoir to a kayak launch and the Link Trail. (3) From the kayak launch, the trail follows an actively used, rutty service road, heading away from the lake (northwest), then turning northeast towards Park Road and the Piney bike trail. (The latter is now closed.) (4) Finally, the trail follows a former service road to close the loop at the fork in (1) above. Segment (2) is the longest and by far the nicest. I recommend doing (1) and (2) as an out-and-back, staying along the reservoir and skipping the other parts of the loop. After rain, the road part (3) would be miserable!
