Update on the park from this past weekend. This was our first time staying in a cabin at Cumberland Mountain State Park. We have stayed in cabins in other Tennessee State parks in the past and were hoping for, and expecting, a similar experience, which is to say that the bar is not set too high in terms of posh amenities, but that everything would at least be as advertised. Oops!nI’ll preface the rest of this review with this; our review is very specific to cabin #7. This cabin should NOT be available for rent until it has either been completely renovated, or bulldozed.nWe entered the cabin through a broken storm door, which should have been our first clue. There was not a clean surface in the entire kitchen. There were no clean dishes, no usable, clean cookware, and the oven appeared to never have been cleaned. The walls in the kitchen and bathroom were spattered with who knows what (toothpaste?), and covered in dust bunnies and cobwebs, and the floors were cracked, broken linoleum, covered in tracked-in dirt. The h-vac struggled to maintain any temp, running continually, blowing cold air from every vent. Were it not for the old, electric wall heaters, which I’m sure we were not supposed to use, since all the knobs has been removed, it would have been a cold, noisy existence the entire weekend.nI’ll end this tirade on a positive note. There was lots of free firewood, the shower was clean and had good water pressure and plenty of hot water, the towels were soft and fluffy, the bed was comfortable, and we absolutely love the park. We will simply NEVER rent a cabin again without first checking it out, and certainly will never rent cabin #7 without knowing that it has been redone.

Pretty nice park. The Bridge / Damn is pretty cool. Lake area is nice, however everything was closed as far as boat rental, etc. Thought it kind of petty that you would have to purchase a permit to canoe, kayak, or boat... only $5 extra but it is the point. Seems like it should be opened back up after Easter.nTrails were nicely kept. At the office, the bathrooms were clean, plus there were people to ask questions.

We stayed here 3 nights and loved this place! Our kids did their first paddle boating and kayaking. We also traveled the trails that are clean. Our camp host was amazing and we loved her dog Gingersnap. The camps are close together and it was full everyday that we were there. There was a long line to dump our sewer. Would love to stay here again.

Great park close to civilization so you can feel far away but still be able to run to the store. The cabins here are well done with nice sleeping areas and kitchen as well as full bathrooms in each. Plenty of hiking trails with a fantastic view of the water fall over the dam. We stayed in the Mill House during the winter, situated right below the dam, great porch to watch the water and admire the beautiful wooded area. Of all the cabins here, the Mill House is by far the best.
