Stayed for 8 nights. It was very relaxing. The best part is the surrounding Santee State Park with lots of nature to explore. Campsites are spacious and well kept. Plenty of bathroom/shower facilities. Dump station is conveniently situated and easy to use. Park Rangers and Camp Hosts are pleasant and helpful. The camp store is well stocked. Would absolutely stay again!

Rented a camper for the first time. Had a great time hanging around the camp fire, fishing from the banks (my son caught a nice catfish within 15 minutes), and just exploring the banks of the Lake. Nice little giftshop that sold firewood and there was a boat ramp and two fishing docks at the giftshop. We stayed at site 29 and like how it was pull-thru for the camper and had some privacy compared to other sites. You could see the lake through the trees.

I was at site 26. The pics are from my window or standing in my site not of the actual site. When the weekend arrived the place filled and the view was not good but thats nothing to do with my rating. The showers (2 stalls) where ok but as usual a little dirty. There is 1 building with men and women's and I believe a washer dryer but I didn't look at that part. They have a dump station but no sewer at site typical for sate parks. The spaces where nice not like a for profit place that's usually equivalent to a parking lot. Most sites had no separation like bushes or trees and for some reason people kept walking between my truck and RV 5 feet from where I would sit to read or...... instead of walking around the site as I did for others. I know thats not the parks fault but it seemed the norm at one point 6 -8 kids where playing in my site and it was not a huge site or near the woods or anything else so that was odd... like maybe 5 feet from my awning and on or at my firepit and picnic table. The noise level when I was there was ridiculous. I know you could say again not parks fault however they could attempted to control it. The kids where screaming well past dark. Not laughing and playing. Those sounds are enjoyable listening to children play, run, laugh is great but this was screaming like a horror film and non stop all day till about 9pm. The couple next to us left because of the noise level. Again I have been camping my entire life. I started with my parents when I was a toddler and I'm sure we played loudly and laughed (we never went into someone else's site my parents thought us all that) But we never screamed like someone was murdering us non stop! and I have never stayed anyplace this loud. I understand this may have been this only time but it felt like the norm many campers knew each other. Now to get past the noise lol the lake is nice however there are a lot of logs floating and many washed ashore making it too difficult to enter the lake anyplace other then the boat ramp even to swim. I understand the logs washing ashore however most parks will remove them from a beach or area to launch a kayak... There was an area that was a beach at sometime vot you could not use it with all the debris. There is no check in or check out, they leave a pass on your pole at site but we never got one and never needed it. A couple camped across from us and when someone arrived for that spot they had paid for it turned out they didn't pay or make reservations they just simply set up camp untill they ranger came and left them a note telling them they had to leave (they didn't untill that night) I felt bad for the people that reserved that site and felt the tanger should have done more then leave a note. So the lake is beautiful, the woods are great but the 3 stars are for management. Oh the town nearest for liek a walmart or alike was not nice and nothing to do but I was there to relax, kayak, and sometimes do NOTHING so it was great untill Friday afternoon. If you go try the weekdays and hope no one is in your spot lol

Surprisingly dry after all the rain. Mass exodus on Sunday after New Year. Wonderful park with great trails! And of course access to the Santee!

This was the first time I visited and I must say, if your looking for a quiet place to stay, this would be it. We were in a site right next to the trees and the deer came with in 20 ft of us. There were Blue jays, Cardinals and woodpeckers everywhere! Great place for bird watching. I also enjoyed the swimming area as well. I will go back.
