Food is always great, but empathy goes a long way too. My wife and I have eaten at spotted quite a bit over the past few years because they have, in my opinion, easily the best chicken sandwiches in Columbia. However when picking up a to-go order today, an older gentleman on the staff was pretty agitated when I asked why it took a while to get my order. To be honest, I would wait a long time for those chicken sandwiches, and it had to do with a miscommunication on the pickup time, but it still doesn’t leave a good taste when you’re spoken to like that.

What a wonderful first experience for me! Food was amazing! I had potato chip hot sauce deviled eggs, pimento cheese with toast points and a pimento brisket sandwich! Delicious!nnOnce I figure out how to leverage these 3 million views I have on Google, I'm coming back!

I have eaten here multiple times and have been impressed with everything I've tried. They have a variety of deviled eggs, include the chicken shin and hot sauce deviled eggs. They are amazing! The pimento cheese is always a great option. The animal style fries chicken sandwich was perfectly cooked and has a ton of flavor. The pokk belly mac and cheese is one of my favorite all-time foods.

During softshell crab (softie) season, Spotted Salamander is a lunchtime must. The simplicity of a fried crab on white bread with mayo, pickles, and Nashville hot sauce is a delight. There are definitely some great places in town to have awesome softies for dinner, but if you're looking for a lunch option then nobody beats Spotted Salamander.

No words. Everything we ordered was mouth-wateringly amazing! If you ever get to try the special called the Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich, you MUST! No questions! (You can get the spicy sauce on the side if you don’t like heat). The pesto pasta salad SLAPS. The chicken salad croissants ALSO slapped! I’ll stop there. IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN, YOU NEED TO GO! Staff was friendly and food is 100% worth every penny.
