Great trail for walking, taking the dogs for an outing, looking for bugs and birdwatching. Stays cooler in summer than surrounding area, and offers many places to get out into the creek itself to play or cool off. There's a large sandy/gravel area as soon as you get to the bottom of the entrance that's great for hanging out with kids or rock collecting. It's not suitable for disabled access, though, and the steep entrance and muddy stretches along the northern leg of the trail bear watching if you have kids. About half a mile north from the entrance is a private residence with an electric security fence, something to keep an eye on if you have small or curious kids, but there's plenty of room to walk near it without risking contact. There have been fatal drowning incidents here when the water is high, and the rocks can get slippery with algae, so just like any forest creek, use caution when entering the water.

My review is from a mountain-biker's perspective. I guess this could be a lovely easy path for a hike to a waterfall. On one branch of the trail, you get the mentioned waterfall - but if you go the other way, you get a trail that takes you past a property with a weird half underground house and an electric fence that's clearly there to keep people out - there's no livestock. I thought I was going to be abducted and chained to a radiator in the basement. Creepy.

Great place for a nice walk!

A real waterfall in the piedmont! Nice wide trails (a little bumpy in spots). Grab a long stick to catch the spider webs if you are early in the day. The waterfall is taller than you would think, maybe 40 feet? I think it varies from a trickle to a nice flow after a rain.

There was no trail map of any sort at trailhead. Trail is an access road. When I went it had rained several days before and parts of the road were dangerously slippery with deep mud. There were two foot bridges I came across that are not at all suitable for wheelchairs or baby carriages.
