It's a nice state park. The camping prices are reasonable $25-35 depending on hook ups. They also have cabins available. The scenery is nice for the area, everything else is flat. So seeing some mountains was nice. The hiking was good. Easy trails and harder climbing up thru rocks. I was there during the open of the season and the water levels seemed low, but I'm sure after some good rain storms it would be better.nn*cell service is not good, but you can't blame the park for that. I was lucky to get 1 bar at my site in Live Oak. I had to walk closer to the lake to make calls.
Great park! Not all of the campsites gave been updated with fire rings, grills, and tables. I recommend campsite 16. It has all three plus trees for hanging a hammock. The trails on the mountains are not well marked and the state park office was out of firewood. Lots of deer and other wildlife who like to wander through the campsites.
Beautiful state park. We camped with our pop-up in River Run spot #1 in Mid-march. Highly recommend that spot, it's giant and secluded on one side with a path to the river. Climbed Baldy Point and hit the family fun park which the kids absolutely loved, especially the go-karts.nBeautiful scenery!
Rusted out grills.nNot all camp sites have fire rings. Do your scouting.nPretty fun trails and mountains for you to climb. More like bouldering.nThe staff was always friendly and helpful. Stop by the office and they will give you the low down on maps, trails, hiking tips etc.
Beautiful area with the snowfall! I can't wait to go back during the summer. The beach area looks wonderful. Loved seeing all the deer.
