My family has always loved to camp here. Campsites are always well maintained. Some of the bathrooms get locked at night but it's not a huge deal. Hiking to the cave seems to stay pretty busy. But at least there are a couple different trail options including a more direct and easy trail route. If you need firewood get it somewhere else though!
This was so much fun! This is a great day trip and camping spot. It is great for kids who love to climb. It has lots of options of things to do and different landmarks to see. Lots of different trails for different people. Great views.
First of all- Amazing views and awesome hikes!nnBut pretty much everything else was awful.nnWe arrived at a campsite (Deep Ford 001) and found it covered in trash. The park ranger said they would warn the people who were there first but seemed a little dismissive. I had poor customer service at the park office when asking about when the main bathrooms were locked. The bathrooms were supposed to be open till 11PM. They were consistently locked at 9PM.nnWe booked with this park because they said Kayaks would be available. They told us when we arrived that the Kayaks wouldn't be available till a day after we left.nnGroups of fishermen woke us up and invaded our campsite almost every night and every morning. We woke up the first morning to two men fishing 5 feet from the front of our tent. Several other groups of fishermen walked through our campsite and disrupted our time together. While some of them were nice, NONE of them were invited. When we reported these fishermen, we were told they had been warned before. That leads me to believe that the park ranger, who drove by several times, should have known to dealt with the problem!nnThe cave and the trails are great for day use but DO NOT waste your money on staying in this poorly managed, filthy, and disappointing park.
We stayed in the cabins while my parents stayed in the RV park. Lots of hiking trails for all ages and a nice lake with paddle boats. We had tons of fun the whole weekend, if you’re ever in the area the views are spectacular!! I’d definitely recommend this place as a two or three day weekend road trip with family, we even took our little pug! Will definitely be making plans to go back!
Great place to hike and camp! Campgrounds are really clean and spacious. Lots of rock so bring the appropriate camping and sleep gear. Bathrooms are clean and close to the camps. We had to have reservations in advance to get an electric camp sight.
