Highly recommend if you're looking for a scenic and moderately challenging hike

Knew about the lake but have never been here before, decided to stop by on a whim. So glad I did, this is such a nice scenic place. Had the dog with me so I didn't venture too far, but I will definitely be back to explore the trails more. Saw deer on the road on the way in. Looks like it might be good fishing. Quieter than some Oklahoma lakes.

I have been going nrsa for about 10 years and have seen a reduction in parking to the point there is very little space to park a trailer, yes I am an equestrian. The park staff seem nice but all you hear is the new rules come from “above”. Started with no problem with bringing dogs to camp to must be leashed at all times and now dogs are NOT allowed. Personally I take a dog with me on the trail for protection due to some wildlife is not so friendly (wild pigs, bears, I have even seen a wolf). Not having your dog with you affects not only equestrians but hikers like to have them with them also. It is a beautiful place but is becoming “unfriendly “ to the point I rarely go there.

Nice area with decent hiking trails. Some of the trails further out were harder to follow in spots due to being somewhat over grown. We've been there twice, once as day hikers, once for backpacking. Not a ton of big views but lots of forest paths.
