Interesting fact- You must make a reservation through the web site to pay for a campsite here. I stopped by and asked about a campsite to spend the night and was told I could not pay in the office. Camp ground is very well kept and clean. Right off the highway. Has more of an RV park vibe than a state park. Nice place to spend the night but plan ahead. Picture is of campsite #8.

Great facilities, whether you are in a campsite or in the lodge (hotel).nAlso, the restaurant is top notch. The food was excellent for the breakfast, lunch and dinner options we tried.

This park was horrid. A full park and zero water in women's shower..zero! They padlocked nice bath/showers and provided ZERO toilet paper or hand soap. ZERO!! FOR 3 DAYS, myself and 3 girls had no way to clean anything! This park should be shut down. Park hours...Fri and Saturday only till 5... if your camping outside these days go elsewhere...

We spent a couple nights tent camping at Talimena State Park. It is located at the start of the Oachita Trail, and a couple minutes from the scenic highway 1. It's the perfect location if you are looking to stay close to and explore the Oachita Mountains. We recommend tent site 1 as it is more spacious than the other sites, which are close together on the side of the hill. Tent pads are 10'x10' and not all sites have room to set up elsewhere if your tent doesn't fit. Parking is shared on the road so there are no reserved spaces for the tent sites.nKeep in mind that this camp is a little unique. First, it's located right off the highway at the top of a hill which means you'll hear those logging trucks roaring up the hill. Second, there are lots of ATV enthusiasts that use this campground as base camp. There is a lot of ATV traffic and noise in the mornings and evenings. Overall Talimena state park is great for what it is - an easy way to gain quick access to the Oachita's. We'll be back!
