Positives are it’s close to Charlotte, clean and well organized and good for beginners.nOn the down side, it’s quite small but still just as pricey as larger and higher elevation resorts.nWe went Christmas Day because we had some newbies in our group. I wouldn’t go here by myself or with experienced skiers. You’ll be bored in an hour or two.nI like how they are friendly and organized here. However they were blowing the snow guns while it was snowing at night making it nearly impossible to see. And it’s a dry resort so no beers in the lodge when you’re taking a break.nBottom line: good for beginners or a super quick trip but skip it and go higher up if you have time.
I came and skied on a Friday, it was the perfect place to learn how to ski for the first time. It wasn’t too crowded and the slopes were beginner friendly. We went down the beginner slope a few times and felt ready to try the advanced routes. By the end of the day we were able to do all of the advanced routes. Overall it was a great value and fun place to ski. It might not be the best place for more advanced skiers, but it was just right for a beginner!
Who ever is managing this Ski park/resort needs to manage the rest of the ski resorts in the area. The website was up to date and also didn't lie about snowmaking like the other ski resorts do. The open ski slopes were groomed well and were fun to ski on. the only negative is he size of the ski area but cant blame them for not having more land. Overall great for people who want to ski, specially the slalom slope is really good.
We were able to ski and skate during our trip to NC.nnSKI: We went on a Friday and had a blast! We had tickets for the super session so we were pretty leisurely arriving, checking in, and getting our equipment. We decided to eat there for lunch and the food was decent, but a bit pricey for what it was. They had lots of choices though, which was nice. We did not encounter any staff that were rude and had a good time overall! It had been many years since my husband and I had last skiied, but we were able to really enjoy these slopes. Our favorite was strudel! We enjoyed staying for a few hours of night skiing and hope to come back next year!nnSKATE: Staff working at the ice house were so kind and the process was easy to get going. We brought our own skates, so we did not wear the rental skates. The ice itself was not in the best shape. It started out pretty good, but quickly developed massive cracks and picks along the track where most people were skating, likely due to people toe picking and the skate aids. The center of the ice stayed pretty good. The outdoor rink is really neat with the slopes right there and flags and lights surrounding it. The big fire was nice to sit by when I decided to take some breaks. Overall, the ice itself is why this rating didn't get 5 stars.
Took the kids skiing a few weeks back. First time for them and they really enjoyed it. App is super convenient for us which is a huge positive. We had to book a reservation time in advance online which seemed like it would make the process super smooth. It was pretty crowded inside despite the reservation time. We precooked lift tickets and equipment rental but you need to stand in line to pick them up then stand in additional lines for equipment. We were probably about an hour end to end once arriving before actually getting on the slopes. It was a weekend and everyone comments how crowded it can get. Once we were on the slopes - the little bunny slope w magic carpet was pretty crowded. The kids did that a few times and got comfortable enough to try some blues. The rest of the slopes weren’t nearly as crowded which was nice. We ate lunch inside - food was decent and pretty quick. The kids had a great time and wanted to go back which is a huge win! 3 stars this time given the check in experience (and I can’t go 5 after skiing out west), but assuming you go when it’s less crowded it’s really tough to be the convenience and value here. We will be back. ud83dudc4dud83cudffb⛷ud83cudfc2
