I have ostheo arthritis and when talking with a local pharmacist It was recommended that instead of continuing taking a lot of pain medication I might contact Dr. Eric Koehler at the Physical Achievement Center and get invovlved with a progam that would improve my flexiability. I took advantage of a 30 minute discovery visit to evaluate my phsical situation and intended on pursuring a long-term plan when my schedule was a little more consistent. Life intervened and I had an emergency situation with back pain. I had successful back surgery in 2014, but through stress and age I noticed I was starting to have stiffness and spasms in my lower back. I had a difficult spasm one evening and was hardly able to move so luckily I had visited with Dr. Eric and was able to get in the next day for an evaluation of my problem. Through therapy and exercises I have already improved and am so appreciative of the professionalism, prompt service and the expertise of both Dr. Eric Koehler and Dr. Kelly Ashbeck..

The place itself is pretty easy to find with plenty of parking space. The breakdown of the building is pretty standard for a physical therapy office, but the services offered are superb! They live up to their mission statement both with the hands on physical therapy they offer and the workshops they offer to help educate people about joint and muscle functionality. It really helps people to gain a better understanding of what their options are beyond jumping right into surgery when they are experiencing any of a number of issues.nnMy personal experience of working with Eric has been extraordinary. A number of years back I had knocked my kneecap out of place playing soccer. At the time, I was struggling to move around as my knee would swell up like a balloon and I wasn't sure what was going on. I had gone to see my doctor who had me go to a physical therapist they had on site there. They gave me some anti-inflammatory drugs and a standard regiment to try and build up the muscles around my knee to try and resolve the issue. But even something as simple as walking down a flight of stairs caused my knee to swell up. I was thoroughly convinced I would need surgery and would probably have to give up running altogether. I told Eric what was going on and he told me he wanted to take a look to see if he could get it resolved. In the first session he determined that my knee cap had been knocked out of place and that the grinding was causing the swelling and inflammation I was experiencing. He did some manipulation to get the knee cap to move back along its natural glide path and did a bit of mobilization stuff to help loosen up my knee. I was shocked at how good my knee felt immediately after he had worked on it. I was able to move on it as though I had never been injured. He then told me we were going to head back to the gym and do some weighted squats. I thought he was crazy, but we loaded up the bar with a pretty average squat weight for me and I was able to power through three sets of ten with ease. He gave me some tips for things to do for the next few days to keep it loose, but I was able to pick up my training close to where I had left off prior to the injury. The guy seriously knows his stuff and has worked wonders for me on several occasions since then. I would definitely recommend contacting the center if you have are experiencing any physical issues, injuries, or limitations, and definitely prior to pursuing surgery. Even if its only for an assessment, they are an excellent place to go to give you an idea of what your options are.

I love Dr. Koehler's approach to PT. He takes the time to listen, assess, and treat. I've had shoulder problems for the longest time and was contemplating surgery, but he was able to get me back to normal activities without surgery!nnWith Dr. Koehler's help many people will be able to avoid unnecessary surgeries. If you have a lingering issue or a new issue give the Physical Achievement Center a call.
