Mason's Ruby & Sapphire Mine

My friend's family and I went here planning to spend the day digging and were thrilled with the experience! We paid $35 a piece to have unlimited unsalted buckets. This means that you aren't guaranteed to find anything, but the experience feels so much more real! They also have salted buckets where you are guaranteed to find non-native gems! We mined from 10 am to 4pm (open to close) and ended our day with over 40 carrats of sapphire! The staff was very friendly and helpful especially Chris. He helped us by look over our shifter making sure we didn't miss anything, and by helping us identify what we needed to look for. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a fun and engaging experience!

Went this past weekend for the second time and had an absolute blast! Digging your own dirt makes it more special than other mines I've been to. Chris and others helped us get used to finding the sapphires and once we knew what we needed to find, we did! Searched for 4 hours or so. My friend got a bkt over 5 carats between 7 stones, I hit a lucky spot and found 12.8 total, with the biggest being 4.65 carats. One guest even found a 10 carat stone while we were there! Finished off a day with their biggest seeded bucket, to give our eyes a break after searching so hard. It was my friend's first time and he was delighted to see the size and variety of gems we found in it, along with being satisfied with his sapphires after his hard work. Will be waiting until I can return!

Me and my family had a blast here! Arrived at opening and mined till they closed. The staff were excellent, both helpful and friendly; showing you the ropes and checking to be sure you didn’t miss anything. We finished with around 115 total carats and probably 3 dozen or so stones many of which we were told could be cut at some of the local shops.nnBig should out to “eagle eye” and the “flume Nazi“ for all the help.nnWe had a blast, would definitely recommend.

My friends invited my hubbie and I on a week long trip to North Carolina... while there we visited the usual places but we were looking for something a little more exciting so were decided to go gem mining after browsing some brochures... the hubbies decided not to participate so my best friend and I laced up our boots and got to digging because we wanted to get the full experience..Chris, Jessica and Ms. Judie made us feel so welcomed and excited that we were knee deep in dirt determined to find ourselves a sapphire and that's exactly what we did!!!
