Safe , clean, quiet! At $10/night can't really complain. Host was friendly. Buy local firewood, it's not sold at campground. Water pump, vault toilets, garbage cans. Fire pit with cooking grate.nnDrawbacks: The road to the campground/trail head, badly needs to be grated, potholes everywhere! Drive slow! A New builtin board with easier to read directions for payment collection/display of receipt on posts.nnStayed campsite #11

I loved it. Pleasantly surprised by the hammock stands. Nice flat spots to set up tents. A little grill for cooking over the fire. The little shelter kept our packs dry and out of our tents. It's pretty primitive - we were camping in mixed company and instead of a ladies' room, we had a ladies' log - but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was a bit difficult to get to with the amount of rainfall we've had recently, but not too bad.. though I would recommend bringing muck boots or waders if you continue on for the rest of the trail instead of going back to the closest point of entry.

reserved campsite #9 11/20 - 11/22. it was only 70 steps to the water (i counted them at low tide). there were a few fellow campers asked if they could pass through the campsite to get the to water (no problems). real quiet except for the squirrels gathering acorns....but that nature. there is enough woods between campsites to maintain privacy, but just enough to know there was someone beside you. Camp site Hostess was extremely friendly and helpful when it comes to fishing..... Looking forward to a longer stay next time.

This little campground is a quiet relaxing place on the edge of the Newport river. With dolphins and plenty of birds, it is a wildlife haven. The 21 mile Neusiok trail, part of the Mountains-to-Sea trail, terminates just outside the gates.nHOWEVER... the reason I am only giving it four stars, it’s because the road to get there is absolutely horrible. I am having to go get my car aligned after driving through this pothole-ridden road several times. There is no way to avoid them and they are deep, sandy, and VERY muddy.

Excellent out-of-the-way campground. I was there on a Sunday night in late October, so only.a few other sites were occupied. Thick shrubs provide natural privacy buffers between each site. Site number 9 is highly coveted as it has direct access to the river shore. If you can grab it, enjoy! If you're driving a car, take it easy on the access road; some pretty good potholes have developed.
