Back Country Barbeque

Would love for this place to be five stars. However keep trying to eat here just doesn't measure up to all the great Lexington Barbecue Trail establishments. Has problem with having enough waitresses in the afternoon. Problems with cleanliness. And the three C's of restaurants don't operate here. Which are Cleanliness, Cost-effectiveness, and courteous great Customer service. Seems to have things going better Monday through Friday lunch time hours. Has great ratings in those time frames. Would love for this place to sizzle. Love great hickory smoke wood slow-cooked Lexington style pork with light sauce. Every time I go there they place way too much sauce fat and skin in their chopped barbecue. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place for the Barbecue Trail anymore. I do hope they increase their waitresses for afternoons. Also please notice the printed menu on Google is out of date all of their prices are around a dollar more then what's on Google. Also be mindful this place charges $0.85 for chopped onions on pintos. Most places will give you chopped onions for free on pintos . And dollar twenty-five to a dollar fifty for onions on their hamburger steak that is already $10. And get better at Friday through Sunday after lunch hours. Place has great reviews they must have come here during lunch time hours. Which are from about 11:30 till 2 p.m. Also this is a local favorite because there's not much in this area to give them competition. But you don't have to drive very far for better BBQ in this area. I have family in the restaurant business in Texas I know first hand it is a very hard business to be in especially with covid-19 now. I am very respectable of supporting local businesses also. But because barbecue is a Mainstay in both Salisbury and Lexington North Carolina I must call a spade a spade. Just isn't measuring up to the other places. So for the sake of the neighborhood I did say it's okay. Not everyone has a set schedule to eat just in the lunch time hours. Restaurants should keep their standards up all the way to closing. However with just a few little tweaks this place could go to four to five stars very easily . God be with us all! Especially in this very difficult time in American history.

Pretty good. Good old fashioned BBQ place with friendly people. I got the brisket and it was good although it comes with bbq sauce on it. I prefer dry rub brisket. I would definitely go back again and its less than a mile off of I-85.

The BBQ was great! I love the small, round hushpuppies and you can't beat feeding 3 adults for 30 bucks with the amount of food we ate and took home. However, my tea tasted old and I am not a huge fan of the super sweet slaw. I could almost imagine the granules of sugar between my teeth as I chewed it... Thus the 3 stars

Hadn't been there in years actually I forgot it was there until a while back. Anyway I stopped by today for a BBQ sandwich and it was delicious. I will go back. I highly recommend it if you're in that area it's only a couple minutes off I-85 Linwood exit.

I've enjoyed the down home country pleasant courtesy of the staff at Backcountry Barbecue for over the past 36+ years... Just as much as I have enjoyed the delicious country cooking and Traditional Lexington Barbecue that I have grown up enjoying since I was a toddler...
