The section of the Appalachian Trail that goes through Little Hump and Hump Mountain is absolutely breathtaking. The Grassy Balds are both a unique ecosystem and a great place from which to look out at the surrounding mountains. Roan, Grandfather, Linville Gorge, Beech, Mt. Rogers, Mt. Mitchell all visible from the top of Hump. Well worth the hike.
Such a beautiful place to hike and camp. Gets quite windy so make sure to bring warms clothes/gear for night.
Fabulous views of Hump Mountain and the surrounding area. There's some great campsites up here but be prepared for wind.
Great hike with views for days!
A great, less traveled bald compared to the balds on Roan Mountain. It's best accessed from the yellow mountain gap trailhead and then it is about 2.5 miles to little hump. It's uphill most of the way so be prepared with water. It's worth the views.
