Helen's Kitchen & Catering

While visiting Columbus, MS we decided to seek out authentic home cooked soul food in an effort to support local business while visiting. We discovered Helen's Kitchen and Catering and what a discovery it was. Helen's is truly a hidden gem in Columbus, MS. The food was nothing short of amazing. True down home southern soul food. The servings were substantial and full of flavor. The service that we received was top notch and we were made to feel very welcome. So much so that we hung around town a little longer in order to enjoy a breakfast of some of the best salmon patties that I have had the pleasure of eating!!! From the friendly welcome of the locals that were also waiting on food to the kindness and great service of the owners, our overall visit was excellent. When in the area, Helen's will be one of my first stops!!!!

Great southern cooking. Awesome hot water cornbread that looks like pancakes but tastes like heaven, perfect for sopping up any leftover juices.nnMs. Helen reminds me of my mawmaw and the whole family is nice and inviting.

I had lunch at Helen’s yesterday and it truly is a family restaurant. Her two sons and granddaughter were there working. I also had the privilege of meeting Helen and she is 80 and still working! I was impressed with the fried chicken(they also had lasagna and livers) mashed potatoes with gravy, outstanding cabbage, pancake shaped bread and iced tea. If you are looking for REAL southern, down home cooking then visit Helen’s . She is a sweetheart and her food is some kinda tasty. Oh and I forgot she offers dessert too but I didn’t have enough space in my tummy for more food! Go there and experience the flavor of old style southern cuisine and more importantly the hospitality of these fine people.
