Golden Memorial State Park

We are lineman working in Southern Mississippi and had to evacuate due to hurricane Sally. I explained this to the person on the phone who took my payment. I also explained that I was coming from Kiln. 3 hours away. She told me the office closed at 5pm, and where to park the trucks. Gate was closed and locked! Had to turn around and roads are not very friendly. I guess we will be riding this storm out at the wal mart parking lot!

Nice place , bad info ! Need to update website and park office information! Paid for 1 night camping in the honor box ! Left a note about site and electric with my phone # the park Ranger called to inform me that the park is now a day use only park no camping , that is not stated at all on the website or the park office , it makes for a costly inconvenience of time and money I was visiting for a wake and funeral , just not impressed at all with your lack communication very disappointing it added more grief to the situation, just fix it make it right !nnOk so made a call informed the situation they have fixed website and refund with a check . Impressed and satisfied thank you very much ! Looking forward to more camping in Mississippi ! FYI Mississippi State parks really are exceptional I'm from Michigan there not even close to the design setup , thanks again for addressing the issue It is appreciated.

If you dont like people, but enjoy beautiful scenery, this is the place for you. Nice and quiet. They are currently in between management, until then, no camping or renting cabins. As of dec 2019.

Very peaceful, great place to social distance.

We rented a cabin for 4 days. It was on the water and very relaxing. Cabins are no frills but very clean and serve their purpose. Ranger Tim is very nice and helpful. He makes the stay even more pleasant.nThere are hiking trails and 2 fishing piers and fishing from all around the lake.nMake sure you bring you sleeping bags and air mattresses.nIf your looking for a very laidback and relaxing time, Golden Memorial State Park is the place to go.
