Absolutely love this state park. The animals are beautiful and amazing to look at. They have picnic areas you can grill at to enjoy the day further. There are trails and pathways in the elk area, as well as ponds. You can see buffalo, elk, deer, geese, and turtles at this park. Fun for the whole family.

Great drive through an animal sanctuary right in the suburbs of St. Louis. We actually got stopped on the Bison trail by a small her of about 10 bison that decided it was a great time to sun themselves on the road - for a good half hour! We have never been so close to such massive beasts before and the kids loved it as much as we did. Unfortunately, we only saw one juvenile elk on our leisurely drive through, so we're planning to go back - probably in autumn when the fall colors will likely be amazing.

Very pleasant setting. Worth driving a little off the beat to get there. Beautiful forest of rolling hills and lake. Nature lovers paradise. Elk, deer and bison habitat makes it great visiting the park. Don't forget the picnic basket.
