Quiet getaway 1h away from DC. The loop is quick and can easily be done twice. The trail goes by the water and marshes off the Easter shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Highly recommend.

Great little park with pretty beach, but I’ve been here twice, and both times the trails were impassible in places with deep mud and water - no way to get around except to slog it out or go back. I know it’s the outdoors, but rubber boots are the only footwear that would survive it. Lot of clean up for me and the dogs before we could get back in the car (sand from the beach is fine but that black mud is tough). Hope they can patch up the bad spots. Maybe some signs at the start of the trail to warn in the meantime.

The ongoing pandemic has definitely taken a toll on a lot of businesses and public places since a consumer’s mindset to buy anything outside of essentials or to visit a public place like a park or beach, has crippled down significantly. Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. It is now all the more important that we as customers, support these heroes during these dark hours to mankind.nnWe got here on our way back from Assateague island when we were looking for sunset places. We were close to sunset timing and had to literally run from the parking place towards the beach area. There was a nice park staff who directed us the shortest route to get there quickly and we continued running. One trail led on to another and we finally got there. The area near the beach was not too clean but we put everything aside and focused on the sun that was setting on the backdrop of the Chesapeake bridge.nnThe view was surreal and was a photographer’s delight with every single minute that was passing. The colors showed up in all forms of hues from orange, red, yellow, pink and purple. I rested my camera for sometime and watched Nature at its pristine best taking our breaths away.nnIt got dark by the time we got back to the parking and we couldn’t really browse the other areas of the park. Wish I could get to see more of this place sometime in the future.

Great park to explore marshlands and migratory birds and a quiet beach in the shadows of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. I came for beach glass and wasn't disappointed! I will come back here again. I also want to check out the bike paths. Do note that the porta potties didn't have hand sanitizer.
