Mimi's Prom, Formal Wear, & Quinceañera

My daughter and I had an appointment at this shop to select a dress for her upcoming prom. We were so excited for our appointment at Mimi’s specifically and could not wait. Everything we saw online looked amazing. Unfortunately our experience was not so great and we left disappointed. I will say our hopes were high so maybe we set ourselves up for the disappointment. First off I will say the shop is extremely clean, nicely decorated and seems very well run. The owners were very nice and professional. You are greeted at the door and as you enter the shop they explain how your appointment will go. We were told to select 4 dresses to start with then my daughter would start trying them on with the help of a consultant. We asked the consultant a few times about certain styles of dresses my daughter was interested in only to be told “we probably already sold those” and “maybe the owner can check on those” but she never followed through with any assistance. The mother and daughter paired with us to share a consultant had the same issues (they also left without a dress) Its a pretty tight space so you can’t help but overhear. That was fine though. The appointment was going well until my daughter was done trying on her 4 original picks and wasn’t sold on any of them. We still had 25 minutes left in her appointment so I went to find her a few more possible options since we still had time. While I was gone her consultant told her “I don’t know what your mom is doing but your appointment is almost over so I hope she doesn’t pull you anymore dresses” which made my daughter extremely uncomfortable especially since we had 25 minutes left of a 45 minute appointment. When I came back with 2 more dresses she Begrudgingly took them and said to me “I’ll see if we have time for these”. I was surprised by the comment and proceeded to quietly sit back down uncomfortable myself. She also pressured us quite a bit to purchase the one dress my daughter did like. I completely understand that their job is to sell dresses and we really wanted to buy one but it was a bit much especially since she seemed so irritated that my daughter would want to try on more than 4 dresses. On a positive note the consultant was very helpful at getting my daughter in and out of the dresses and seems to know how keep the appointments moving since time is limited which we appreciated. This was not the experience we had expected or been so excited for we left empty handed and disappointed. Again maybe we set ourselves up for that. I have 2 more daughters that will also be needing Prom/Homecoming dresses in the future and I’d be willing to try this store again hoping for a better experience. Overall it’s a very nice shop with a nice big selection of dresses and I hope they are very successful, they may just need to work on customer service with certain employees a bit more.

Best Prom Store in the Kansas City area! The staff is so friendly, and helpful. They really value their customers and try to make your experience awesome. They have an amazing selection of dresses and so many different styles. Many of my friends have been here and have had the best experience too!! 11/10 recommend Mimi’s

Customer service was amazing! I was very pleased with my daughter's new prom dress. The staff was so helpful and very patient. Highly recommend this place. We drove from Manhattan, KS and it was worth the trip!

The best experience!! They make finding your dress one of my favorite parts of prom!! The girls there are just so sweet and super knowledgeable and helpful!! I highly recommend it there is nowhere quite like Mimis and the range of selections they have is amazing!!

All of the girls were super helpful, and so nice. They all made me feel so confident, and I found a dress that I love!
