I work at the Marten Transports across the street so I can over to eat on my lunch break 3/26/21. When you enter the building and there is a line, there is no separation between the ordering and the paying customers so you will unfortunately realize that you may not be in line because there is no organization. It looks like it’s suppose to wrap around but folks just cluster in a mass and stand around. I was waiting in line for for 10min only to realize that I was not in line. As well as the 3 couples ahead of me. A frequent patron walked right in and began ordering in front of everybody and nobody informed him that he was to go to the back of line because folks had been waiting. This also means that the servers don’t recognize who is in the restaurant. I was thoroughly annoyed at this because the server continuously had to keep asking people “what did you order”. This is an easy fix. Create a flow of traffic and inform the customers to please sit and their food will be to them shortly. But when you have folks ordering and paying just standing next to each other, those entering the building think that this may be the line and stop. Fix this. The food was good decent and I can’t even comment on that because of the disorganized nature. I will be back to eat again but please fix this.

I got the fried chicken, mac and cheese, and green beans. The fried chicken was delicious but I didn't care for the mac and cheese. It tasted like an off brand boxed mac and cheese that was over baked and under seasoned. The green beans were hard and under seasoned. I really wanted to like this probably won't be going back. Let me tell you, this is by far the most delicious southern soul food in GEORGIA!!! They give you enough for two people to share and you absolutely can’t beat their super low economic pricing except the oxtails $21.99 which I’ll definitely have to try and make sure it’s worth every penny. Very impressed overall though and the store renovation looks like a very nice home with historical value hence the pictures on the wall of famous black people!

The only thing troubling at this place is that the condensation on the display case makes it difficult to see the veritable feast for the eyes that is presented at the buffet here. To be safe I selected the collard greens and macaroni and cheese to accompany the perfectly seasoned red snapper. I wasn't disappointed. The cornbread muffin was sweet (just like I like it) but unfortunately burnt on the bottom so I could only enjoy the top half, which I did immensely. The music and posters on the wall brought me back to a time which I enjoyed just as much as the food and the friendly patter of the regular customers. It's not a fancy place and you might be approached by a beggar as you leave but one can't blame a soul for begging for a morsel of this fabulous soul food. Just enjoy it!
