Went to have a parent teacher meeting today specifically with my son's math teacher, Ms. Joyner, first thing I hear is I have to go, I can call you tomorrow or you can follow me to my car, but I have to go, so now I ask so what you have to do is more important than my meeting she says yes, and proceeds to try and sign his attendance paper as if she did something, got an attitude when I told her not to sign his paper sucking her teeth out the door. Now I drove 2 hours from clinical to meet with her on time, his other teachers I did not have an appointment with, however came and took the time to speak with me, but the teacher I spoke to Ms. Hall the counselor and asked her to schedule me an appointment with did not have time, then disrespectful asked me a parent not a child and I'm sure older than her to follow her to her car like I'm a child or a dog to discuss my son like he's a dog. So with her behavior and actions she truly is there for a check not there for the kids, which shows why the passing rate is at a 63%.

This school is atrocious, filthy, unsafe, but that's not even enough to describe the environment . Most teachers there except for a handful just want a paycheck and nothing to do with advancing a student's education. Most of the time doors are unlocked within the school, anybody can come through the outside into the school without going through the front door. Which is a concern especially during our time and the violence happening in school's. The basketball team support is absolutely sublime and football is too, but the other sports not so much. The counselor's except for two actually care about helping you while the others are trying to find the quickest way for you to get out of the office. College Readiness it doesn't really prepare you for college from what I've seen so far.

The students there have no respect for one another and the teachers. There are many good children and teachers there but the majority are only the to pass by. The sound of gang slogans and smell of drugs constantly linger. Jonesboro High School has much potential but is surrounded by negativity.

They deserve negative stars, I don’t recommend this school too nobody, they don’t care about you Succeeding all they care about is A check. And yess I’m talking about ms Toby mr Harrell ms king ms mandava all the counselors the principle. Every last one of the staff do not care!!! They have tons of roaches, the kids can put up racist comments on Edmodo about Blacks and not one teacher would try too remove it. And yess I could go on and on moral of the story is whatever you do please don’t send your child here

I am currently a Sophomore in college and I can truly say that Jonesboro did not prepare me for college at all. I struggled a lot during my Freshman year in college. CONS: There are very few AP courses, the school is dirty and unclean, some of the books are old, the counselors don't do a good job, but the worst is the attitude teachers have. Most teachers lack motivation, like they are just there for the paycheck, not to instill the value of learning to the students. PROS: the county has updated technology like smarboards, projectors, ipods. The Mock Trial and Basketball teams are amazing. The principal is working hard to help Jonesboro thrive, but it's a tough task.
