This was absolutely gorgeous. Daytona Beach is extremely clean and the water is amazing. Just watch out for jellyfish here and there and you'll have an awesome experience. You can also drive your car onto the beach, which makes it much more accessible for people with families and those who don't want to carry coolers half a mile to the beach.
I love the Daytona beaches! They are so big at low tide and small at high. It's fun to see the differences. They allow cars, bikes, motorcycles, golf carts, and scooters to drive on the beach. They food and ice cream trucks that ride the beach. It's just such a fun place to go. And sooooo beautiful!
I visited the beach during bike week. We drove out vehicle on the beach which was super easy and convenient. The attendant at the gate was knowledgeable and filled us in on getting a day pass versus a seasons pass. The beach was well maintained and everyone we encountered was friendly.
It was a good experience. The weather was not ideal. We tried to make the best of it. Boardwalk seemed a bit weak. Pier was great. Never got the opportunity to park ON the beach, so that was a little bonus.
A scenic beach though probably not as idyllic as New Smyrna a bit to the south. Right around Daytona is not nearly as well kept as other areas of the coast even a bit to the south. Nonetheless, this is a fine, marvelously sandy and soothing place to wander as I found out for myself recently. Indeed, many delightful seaside restaurants are also handy and easily accessible from the shore. Enjoy!
